Coffee for Your Memory and Waistline

Is coffee good for your memory and waistline?  A new study suggests that eating less and drinking coffee will help with both. Researchers in an Italian study on caloric restriction have found eating less could help you remember more, boost your health and extend your life.  Skipping dessert and having an after-dinner coffee instead could also be good for your brain as well as the waistline.

The study focused on a protein, CREB1, that is known to be important to memory and learning. While conducting experiments on mice, researcher Giovambattista Pani showed that cutting calories boosted learning if the animals could still make CREB1. In addition, he also showed that cutting calories boosts the amount of the protein made in the brain.

Pass on the dessert and opt for coffee instead!
