Hawaiian Energy Shotz - Vitamin B3

There's a new Shot(z) Coming to Town - our in-depth look at the ingredients of Hawaiian Energy Shotz continues with Vitamin B3. Vitamin B-3, Niacin, is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the group of vitamins called the B complex. As with all water-soluble vitamins, your body does not store water-soluble vitamins so you need a supply of vitamin B-3 in your diet. The body uses B vitamins in the generation of glucose from carbohydrates, in fat metabolism, hormone production and to maintain healthy skin, hair, eyes and liver.  

Niacin is involved in energy metabolism as well as normal functioning of the digestive and nervous systems.  It helps the body use energy, calcium and is required for DNA repair. Niacin, in higher doses, helps people with high cholesterol reduce their level of harmful low-density cholesterol and increase their level of beneficial high-density cholesterol.*  Taking vitamin B3 can help some people avoid numerous other medical conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, cataracts, diarrhea due to cholera, osteoarthritis and hardened arteries, and atherosclerosis. Evidence indicates vitamin B3 can also help some men lower their chances of suffering a second heart attack if they have problems with their circulation or heart, especially when their drug regimen includes other medications that reduce cholesterol. 

Some people may experience “niacin flush” when consuming niacin.  The flushing is simply an increase in blood flow near the skin.  Generally, it goes away in a few minutes and may not be experienced again.  Don’t be alarmed, niacin flush is a very healthy reaction from your body.

I think B-12 shots are more widely used than B-3's.

B Vitamins, while performing specific roles, are referred to as B-Complex Vitamins due to their interaction and interdependence to each other.
