There's a New Shot(z) Coming to Town - our in-depth look at the ingredients of Hawaiian Energy Shotz continues with the Vitamin B6.  Vitamin B6, Pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the group of vitamins called the B complex and is sometimes referred to as “the mood vitamin”.

In the metabolic process, B vitamins play an important role in converting food into energy and helping the body metabolize fats and proteins.  B vitamins are also important for health hair, skin, liver and eyes.

Specifically, Vitamin B6 is important in the function of the cardiovascular, digestive, immune and nervous systems.   It is also necessary for proper brain development and function as well as the production of the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine (which affect mood - hence, “the mood vitamin”). Vitamin B6 is necessary in the formation of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrier found in red blood cells.  Vitamin B6 also boost the production of antibodies supporting the immune system.

On the cellular level, Vitamin B6 is activated to form pyridoxal phosphate which acts as an assistant to enzymes in a variety of chemical reactions.  It is necessary to create and breakdown a number of amino acids which are the building blocks that form proteins.

The top benefits of Vitamin B6 are:

  • Aids in the maintenance of healthy brain function;
  • Plays a key role in synthesizing antibodies necessary in fighting various diseases;

  • Aids in the breakdown and digestion of proteins.
