Hawaiian Energy Shotz - Vitamin B9

There's a New Shot(z) Coming to Town. Our in-depth look at the ingredients of Hawaiian Energy Shotz continues with the Vitamin B9, Folic Acid.  As previously discussed, all B vitamins help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy. B vitamins, referred to as B complex vitamins, also help the body use fats and protein. B complex vitamins are needed for healthy skin, hair, eyes and liver. B Vitamins also help the nervous system function properly.

Vitamin B9 is crucial for proper brain function and has an important role in mental and emotional health.  B9 aids in the production of the body’s genetic material, DNA and RNA.  This is particularly important when cells and tissues are rapidly growing during pregnancy, infancy and adolescence.

B9 works with other B vitamins:

  • B12 to help make red blood cells and to help iron work properly in the body.
  • B6 and B12, and other nutrients, to control blood levels of the amino acid homocysteine.
  • B12 and Vitamin C to help the body break down, us and create new proteins.

Due to improving the circulation of your blood throughout your body, especially the brain, Vitamin B9 is said to improve focus.

It is well known that women need more folic during pregnancy.  Folic acid supports the growth of the placenta and fetus and helps to lower the risk of neural tube birth defects including cleft palate, spina bifida and brain damage.  Vitamin B9 also shields the fetus and pregnant woman from anemia.

It is somewhat common to have low levels of folic acid.  Alcoholism, inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease can cause folic acid deficiency. Certain medications may lower folic acid levels in the body.

The main benefits of Vitamin B9 are:

  • Prevents serious birth defects such as neural tube disorders and Spina Bifida.
  • B9 helps in producing healthy red blood cells.
  • Aids in digestion and strengthening the nervous system, improving mental and emotional health. Vitamin B9 is also known for its effectiveness in overcoming depression and anxiety.
  • Natural provider of strong immune power while enhancing the body’s energy reservoir.
  • Lowers the risk of serious diseases like heart disease, stroke (reduces the production of homocysteine; the amino acid which is responsible for these diseases), ulcerative colitis and lung cancer.
