Hawaiian Energy Shotz - Vitamin C

There’s a New Shot(z) Coming to Town.   Our in-depth look at the ingredients of Hawaiian Energy Shotz continues with Vitamin C, Ascorbic Acid.  Like the B-complex vitamins, Vitamin C is also water-soluble (our bodies do not store these) nor do our bodies make Vitamin C on its own.

Most of us have most likely always thought that Vitamin C would help ward off colds. Even though studies have shown that this may not be the case, although it may help reduce the length of time you have the cold and even the severity of the symptoms, Vitamin C has many health benefits from its best known ability of strengthening the immune system to protection from cardiovascular disease to eye and skin health. This nutrient has many important roles in significant aspects of our health.  When we are not deficient of Vitamin C, it can help detoxify our bodies, promote the healing process of cells, supports the good bacteria in our stomach, neutralizes harmful free radicals as well as destroying “bad” bacteria and viruses.  

Vitamin C is a powerful and effective antioxidant that protects our bodies from free radicals that cause oxidative stress which can lead to several medical conditions ranging from heart disease to many different cancers.  It also helps the body regenerate its supply of Vitamin E, another useful antioxidant.

Vitamin C also ensures the proper dilation of blood vessels which aids in lowering blood pressure and the prevention of high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, congestive heart failure and angina pectoris (an inadequate supply of blood to the heart).  Vitamin C is also known to help lower the lead levels in your blood.  

Our eyes also requires Vitamin C to function properly, specifically the lens of the eye.  Deficiency can lead to cataracts.  With an increased intake of Vitamin C, blood flow to the eye is increased which helps to fight cataracts.  

Vitamin C plays a key role in the production of collagen, the protein that is the main structural protein found in connective tissue and aids in the growth of cells and blood cells and gives skin its firmness and strength. As an antioxidant, Vitamin C slows the rate of free-radical damage. Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen and causes skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles.  For wounds - Vitamins C aids in the healing process.
