Hawaiian Energy Shotz - Choline Bitartrate

There’s a New Shot(z) Coming to Town.  Our detailed looked at the ingredients of Hawaiian Energy Shotz continues with a look at Choline Bitartrate.  Choline Bitartrate is a water soluble nutrient, often included in the Vitamin B Family, and is generally used to increase choline in your body.

As an lipotropic, it helps the liver export fat (preventing the accumulation of surplus cholesterol and fats), supporting overall function and health and burning the exported fats as energy.

Choline Bitartrate also works with the central nervous system to boost nerve impulse transmissions, cell communications and to control muscle function.  In the brain, it plays a critical role by helping produce the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (which impacts appetite, behavior, mood and memory).  Studies have shown that choline may prevent and slow progression against Alzheimer’s disease.

There may also be benefits to the cardiovascular system by reducing blood pressure and lowering heart rate, thus lessening the workload of the heart which reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Choline Bitartrate also has antioxidant properties, promoting the growth, repair and preservation of glands, organs and tissues.

Athletes often use Choline for bodybuilding and endurance sports (for delaying fatigue).  Typically, your body has enough choline to get you through “typical” exercise - for example, running/jogging a few miles. Choline is depleted when exercising for a long period of time - for example, when running marathons or exercising intensely for two or more hours.  That feeling of fatigue, or “hitting the wall”, may be due in part to the significant drop in Choline during more intense exercise.  A study published in “International Journal of Sports Medicine” shows that the choline stores in marathon runners had dropped 40 percent by the end of a race.
