Ka Loko o Kīholo Restoration Work Day and Talk Story 

May 17, 2014  l  9:00am - 2:00pm

Please join a very special volunteer restoration work day at the fishponds at Kīholo to remove invasive plants from the pond perimeter and clearing old debris. In addition to the restoration work day, there will be a talk-story, Misplaced Geography: The Ponds of Kīholo and Wainanali᾿i  with special guest, Bobby Camara, after lunch (12:30 - 2:00 pm).  The guest will be sharing his mana’o about the 1859 lava flow from Mauna Loa and the historic fishponds that were covered by the lava flow. 

Please RSVP to Rebecca Most at The Nature Conservancy (rmost@tnc.org) by Thursday May 15, 2014. 

Drinks, water and rice will be provided.  Please bring:

  • Something to share for the potluck lunch
  • Hat/sunscreen/Bathing Suit
  • Hiking Boots/Tabies
  • Gloves
  • Protective Clothing
  • Water Bottle
  • Hand tools
  • Beach Chair
