Hawaiian Energy Sports is excited to offer a new and improved Hawaiian Energy Shotz formula - a blend of quality ingredients balanced to provide maximum performance.  The "new" Shotz formula will be available in two new flavors, `Alani Java and Mango Orange

Available mid August 2012, the new formula of Hawaiian Energy Shotz will include the following quality ingredients:

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Mononitrate)

  • Essential to the body to process carbohydrates.  Without thiamine, the body cannot convert carbohydrates into energy.

  • Necessary for the body to process fats into energy for immediate use.  For weight loss, many techniques stress the importance of thiamine intake.

  • Aids in the production of ATP or muscle fuel, especially important in athletes and those working on muscle development.

  • Important to the functioning of nerves, muscle cells and the brain.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)

  • Required by the body to use oxygen and for the metabolism of amino acids, fatty acids and carbohydrates.

  • Required for the health of the mucus membranes in the digestive tract and helps with the absorption of iron and vitamin B6.

  • Works as an antioxidant by scavenging damaging particles in the body known as free radicals.

  • Important for body growth and red cell production.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

  • Effective in improving circulation and reducing cholesterol levels in the blood.

  • Helps the body make various hormones in the adrenal glands and other parts of the body.

  • Essential for releasing energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins

  • Helps DNA synthesis.

  • Some people may experience “niacin flush” when consuming niacin.  The flushing is simply an increase in blood flow near the skin.  Generally, it goes away in a few minutes and may not be experienced again.  Don’t be alarmed, niacin flush is a very healthy reaction from your body.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCL B-6)

  • Necessary for protein and red blood cell metabolism.

  • Helps the nervous and immune system function efficiently.

  • Important to the immune system due to involvement in protein metabolism and cellular growth.

  • Helps maintain the health of lymphoid organs that make white blood cells.

  • Helps maintain blood glucose with a normal range.

Vitamin B8 (Inositol)

  • When consumed in combination with other B complex vitamins, inositol helps the liver break down fats in the body.

  • Water soluble fatty lipid that is required by the body for the formation of healthy cells.

  • Plays a role in the central nervous system, where it serves to help transmit messages along neural pathways.

  • Proven effective in alleviating the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy, most likely because of its neurotransmitter properties.

  • Medical professionals believe that because of its effects on serotonin reuptake levels, inositol can help alleviate insomnia.

Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid)

  • Helps produce and maintain new cells in our body and aids in the production of DNA and RNA, the body’s genetic material.

  • Necessary in the production of red blood cells and in the prevention of anemia - working closely with vitamin B12 to regulate the formation of red blood cells and help iron function properly in the body.

  • Crucial for proper brain function.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)

  • Like other B vitamins, B12 is important in metabolism, promoting normal metabolic functions.

  • Plays a role in a variety of functions, including the production of amino acids and processing carbohydrates into energy.

  • Vitamin B12 is required for proper red blood cell formation, neurological function and DNA synthesis.
  • Promotes energy, mental and nerve health.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

  • One of many antioxidants. Well known for immunity and antioxidant protection.

  • Required for growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body.

  • Necessary in the formation of collagen, an important protein used to make skin, scar tissue, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels.

Caffeine (Natural)

  • Increases the activity of the cardiovascular system, digestive system and provides a sense of alertness in the brain.

  • Has many effects on the body’s metabolism, including stimulating the central nervous system.

  • Provides a boost of energy and a feeling of increased alertness and mood elevation.

  • Proven to increase work capacity, stimulate respiration and increase blood flow and muscle activity.

Choline Bitartrate

  • A supplemental form of the nutrient choline.  The body needs choline for a variety of vital functions, including the transmission of signals in your nervous system and maintenance of the structures of your cell walls.

  • Choline bitartrate helps produce lipotropic agents that convert fat into useful products and aid in the production of HDL cholesterol. It also is used for gallbladder and liver function and central nervous system regulation.

  • Considered a Lipotropic compound (lipotropes). Lipotropic compounds support the liver by converting transported fat into energy. Choline is coupled with bitartrate (tartaric acid) to improve its absorption rate within the body.

  • Not technically a B vitamin, it is often included in the B vitamin complex because it works intimately with other B vitamins, particularly Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid) and Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) to keep the body healthy.

  • Used to build many of the connective tissues.

  • With glucuronic acid as its immediate precursor, it is used for the oral administration in the treatment of collagen and joint diseases. It is one of the basic units of and an element of Chondroitin Sulfate and is considered by some experts to be beneficial in making joint, tendon and ligament healthy and elastic. It is given in medicine as a remedy for arthritis, since it is an important component of the structure of almost all tissues and fibrous connective tissue.

  • Supplies energy and also increases feelings of well-being.

  • Studies have confirmed its effectiveness in boosting energy, decreasing drowsiness and improving mental performance, concentration, memory, alertness and reaction time. An Austrian study also found health benefits of glucuronolactone in improving mental capacity and mood when administered with caffeine and taurine.

  • Contributes directly to the cleansing of the liver through glucuronidation. Glucuronidation activates the excretion of bilirubin, an endogenous metabolite which eliminates toxins. During this reaction, the bilirubin undergoes an enzymatic reaction with a glucose derivative before being eliminated in the urine.

Green Tea Leaf Extract (Camellia sinensis) 90% Polyphenols / 50% EGCG

  • Green tea is rich in the antioxidant catechins.

  • Catechins scavenge for free radicals that can damage DNA and contribute to cancer, blood clots and atherosclerosis.

  • Because of minimal processing, green tea's unique catechins, especially epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), are more concentrated.

L-Arginine Base

  • Precursor for nitric oxide that is known to relax blood vessels leading to improved blood flow, which may in turn may aid in the delivery of important nutrients to working muscles and assist with metabolic waste product removal.  It is known that people with high blood pressure or high cholesterol are likely to be deficient in Nitric Acid.

  • Shown to increase growth hormone levels in the blood.  Benefits of growth hormones are diverse, including increasing the use of fat as fuel as well as insulin and insulin-growth factor-1 levels.

  • Often prescribed for older adults with cardiovascular disease, endothelial dysfunction or hypertension for it vasodilation properties.

L-Carnitine Tartrate

  • Some experts categorize L-carnitine as a nutraceutical, a compound that provides health benefits beyond its nutritional value.

  • This amino acid supplement has antioxidant properties and is used to combat fatigue, muscle weakness and support weight loss.

  • May assist with prevention and treatment of adrenal fatigue in some people.

  • Cells use L-carnitine to help with energy production and waste removal. Helps remove harmful fat in arteries, liver and kidneys.

  • When your body's supply of L-carnitine is low, its ability to produce antioxidants suffers, leading to mental and physical fatigue and increased susceptibility to illness and injury.

  • Your metabolism may get a boost that helps you burn certain types of fat when you supplement with L-Carnitine.

  • Taurine is an amino acid that supports neurological development and helps regulate the level of water and mineral salts in the blood.

  • Taurine plays an important role in many aspects of your cardiovascular system, helping to move key nutrients, such as potassium, magnesium and calcium, in and out of your heart's cells to improve its functioning.

  • Taurine supplementation can increase secretion of nitric oxide, which dilates your blood vessels and improves blood flow and delivery of oxygen to your muscles.

  • Can lower your cholesterol by improving gallbladder function which can then eliminate cholesterol through bile.

  • Plays a role in digestion and processing potassium, calcium and sodium in the body.

  • Studies suggest that taurine may improve athletic performance and that taurine, combined with caffeine, improves mental performance.

  • Functions as a "potent" antioxidant. Protecting your body from free radicals which attack cells in your body and can cause chronic conditions such as cancer, eye disease, and possibly diabetes.
  • Combined, the amino acids L-Taurine and L-Arginine provide benefits for cardiovascular health that cannot be achieved independently.

  • Amino acid that your body synthesizes from another amino acid, Phenylalanine.

  • Facilitates production of the neurotransmitters Epinephrine, Norepinephrine and Dopamine, which help with signal transmission in the nervous system and affect mood.

  • Used to alleviate stress and may suppress appetite.

  • Supplemental use of L-tyrosine may increase mental alertness in times of stress or fatigue.

  • Often taken to improve performance and endurance.

Monk Fruit

Known as “Mother Nature’s answer to calorie-free sweetness”.  The sweetness comes from unique natural antioxidants called mogrosides which are found only in monk fruit and have a delicious sweet taste, yet calorie-free.

Monk fruit was traditionally grown on steep forested mountains in small family orchards. A New Zealand company, BioVittoria, has established a grower network which exclusively cultivates its monk fruit seedlings, using New Zealand-developed horticultural methods and standards. BioVittoria has developed a natural process that concentrates the delicious calorie-free sweetness of the fresh fruit, while maintaining its pure fruit goodness. The process:

  • Crush - The fruit is crushed to release its natural sweet juice

  • Infuse - The crushed fruit is mixed with hot water to make a sweet infusion

  • Filter – The infusion is filtered, leaving a clear, fresh juice which contains the sweet antioxidants and a small amount of natural fruit sugar. To make monk fruit powder, the fruit sugar is separated from the sweet antioxidants which are then spray dried to a fine milk-white powder.
